Because of a lot of prescription error in written out by hand, the new technology in electronic prescription was grown up during a decade. However, e-prescription also has shown that the mistakes are no lower than hand writing prescription. I found out that this article showes how and which part of prescription error occur. Since I saw many different technologies came out in healthcare field, I wondered how much errors are came out. According to author Karen Nanji, M.D., new technology is not always reduce the risk of medication errors. E-preceriptions from chain pharmacy use computerized prescribing system, and the prescriptions were checked by person. But, there are still some kind of mistakes. The majority of them were drug dose, duration, and frequency. The main purposes of e-prescription may be the accuracy and the expense of speed and efficacy. If there are many errors, it may be useless. However, those mistakes can be eliminated if software were improved. So, I expect better technologies will be coming out near future.
